Collecting your DNA samples using our home dna test kit is a very simple procedure. Once you place your order, we will send you our DNA testing kit which you should received in around 2 to 3 business days. The kit is includes all you need to collect your DNA sample including a full set of comprehensive and simple instructions. For your ease, we have also provided the following visual instructions on the entire DNA collection procedure using our DNA test kit. You are required to repeat this procedure for every individual participating in the test. We strongly recommend that you do not eat or drink as a minimum half an hour prior to collecting the oral sample to avoid possible contamination of the sample. Step One: (view image) Our DNA testing kits are normally prepacked and include a number of coloured envelopes which normally are sufficient to cover testing for up to 3 people. Of course if you ordered the two person test, one of the envelopes is extra and should be retained in case there is the need for any re-sampling. Step Two: (view image) In each of the colour coded envelopes you will find a pair of coloured swabs that should be of the same colour as the envelope they are in. This is done to assist the client to place the correct swab in the correctly labelled envelope. Step Three: (view image) The submission form you will find inside the kit has to be filled out clearly and correctly with all the requested details. Also do not forget to fill in the outside of the envelope as well. Please write the information in CLEAR BLOCK LETTERS. Step Four: (view image) Remove the swabs from the paper packaging. Be careful not to touch the cotton end of the swab with anything so it remains sterile. There are two swabs provided per each person to be tested. Step Five: (view image) Rub the cotton end of the swab along the inside of your cheek, under your tongue and behind your lips as well. Do this for 10 seconds per person. Remember you are collecting cheek cells and not just saliva, so rub right against the inside of the cheek. Do this with both of the colour coded swabs per person. Step Six: (view image) Before placing the swab back in the colour coded envelope allow the swab a MINIMUM of 1 hour to dry. Place the swab somewhere that the end of the swab is not touching anything else. When dry place the swabs back in the colour coded envelope. Do NOT touch the end of the swab at anytime, even to check if it is dry. Step Seven: (view image) Place the colour coded envelopes into the easyDNA self addressed envelope with your submission form and send back to easyDNA for processing. Please remember to affix a postage stamp. Information in general about our DNA testing procedures can be viewed by visitng our Frequently Asked Questions page.
